All Major Port - Traffic (2013-14)
All Major Port together has handled cargo throughput of 555.487 million tonnes in 2013-14.
KPT has ranked first among the Indian Major ports by handling highest cargo throughput of 87.005 million tonnes in 2013-14.
Paradip has emerged as second Port of the Country with cargo throughput of 68.03 million tonnes in 2013-14.

JNPT is the premier Port of the Country with highest container throughput of 62.33 million tonnes in 2013-14 , (4.16 Million TEUs)

Portwise & Commodity wise Cargo traffic handled during April, 2013 to March, 2014.
At a broad commodity level during FY 2013-2014, Thermal coal, Coking Coal, Fertilisers (Raw Materials), POL & other cargo traffic have recorded positive growth of 22.09%, 18.26%, 4.63%, 0.72% and 0.28% respectively.
The seaborne cargo traffic of Fertilizer, Coal and container are demand driven while POL traffic is largely imports and driven by the domestic demand supply situation in the economy. In particular, Iron Ore is declined by 13.38% in FY 2013-14 as compared to FY 2012-12.
Amongst the dry bulk categories IRON Ore & Finished Fertilizer has posted sharp decline of 13.38% & 17.97% respectively and Thermal & Coking Coal have posted growth as 22.09% and 18.26% respectively during FY 2013-14 .
In the liquid bulk category, cargo growth in crude and petroleum was marginal by 0.72% during April, 2013 to March, 2014.
Container traffic (in million tonnes) which reflects trade in manufactures and components recorded negative growth of 4.32% during April 2013 to March 2014 .
PORT COMMUNITY SYSTEM(PCS)
All the module and ePayment with 14 bank has been implemented. Collected around 200 Crore during May 2014 from users through e-payment module of PCS.
Also implemented SMS gateway for sending SMS for Vessel approval to Users.

IPA is an organisation that was conceived and constituted by the Major Ports of India under the Societies Registration act in 1966 with the prime objective of developing and increasing efficiency and productivity in ports and its working environment. The functioning body of IPA comprises of the Chairman of all Major Ports, which are the local authorities formed by a statute and function under the regulatory control of Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways, Govt of India. The Chairman of Association is elected in the Annual General Meeting while the Secretariat of IPA is headed by the Managing Director who operates from New Delhi.
Port Community System (PCS) is intended to integrate the electronic flow of trade related document/information and function as the centralized hub for the ports of India and other stakeholders like Shipping Lines/Agents, Surveyors, Stevedores, Banks, Container Freight Stations, Customs House agents, Importers, Exporters, Railways/CONCOR, Government regulatory agencies, etc. for exchanging electronic messages in secure manner.
